Jira Private <-> ServiceNow

I need to sync bidirectional between an on prem private Jira and ServiceNow. Tried creating a connection in exalate web gui, it insists on a JIRA Cloud URL. I’ve installed the exalate app in our Jira and the general config has polling seconds =20 , so it looks possible , anyone got a guide to setting this up ?

To set up a bidirectional sync between an on-premises Jira and ServiceNow using Exalate, you’ll need to use the Exalate app installed on your Jira instance and connect it to your ServiceNow instance. The web GUI sometimes defaults to Jira Cloud URLs, but you can absolutely connect Jira Server/Data Center (on-prem) to ServiceNow.

Here’s a high-level guide to get you started:

  1. Install Exalate on both platforms:

  2. Initiate a connection:

    • Start by creating a connection from either Jira or ServiceNow. When prompted for the URL, use the base URL of your Jira Server/Data Center (not Cloud). If the web GUI insists on a Cloud URL, ensure you’re accessing the Exalate app from your Jira on-prem instance and not from the centralized Exalate Cloud console.
    • Follow the steps for setting up a connection between Jira Server/Data Center and ServiceNow: https://docs.exalate.com/docs/connecting-jira-server-or-data-center-to-servicenow
  3. Configure synchronization rules:

  4. Test your connection:

    • Create a test issue/ticket in one system and verify it syncs to the other. Make adjustments to your sync rules as needed.

If you encounter issues with the web GUI insisting on a Jira Cloud URL, double-check that you’re using the correct Exalate app interface within your Jira on-prem instance. If the problem persists, you may want to try initiating the connection from the ServiceNow side.

For a step-by-step walkthrough, check out the official documentation for connecting Jira Server/Data Center to ServiceNow:

This should help you get your bidirectional sync up and running!

Hi @paulca ,

Thank you for posting your query on the Exalate Community Portal.

Please initiate a Connection from ServiceNow side, and select the option “I don’t have a URL”. You can find the relevant documentation Private Connection in Script Mode for SNOW | Exalate C .

I hope that it would be helpful.

Kind regards,

Ashar
