Is it possible to configure Exalate for salesforce to create comments on behalf of original authors?

Originally asked by Harold Oconitrillo on 14 September 2023 (original question)

When synchronizing from the remote side to Salesforce, I’d like to be able to configure Exalate to create comments as the user who corresponds (with the same email address) to the original comment author.

Hi Harold

Exalate’s proxy user is a work management system user, who is used by Exalate to make changes, such as:

  • Creating issues
  • Updating data

The proxy user impersonates external instances. All changes on local issues are performed on behalf of this user. You can use an existing user account or create a new one, specifically dedicated to Exalate.

For salesforce the user that is installing Exalate automatically becomes a proxy user.

This means that it is not possible to change the creator of the inbound comment unless you always re-install Exalate.
