Create a customer monitor to check the status of the connection

Can we get the connection status like it is active or inactive by using customer monitor.

Ex: In the below screenshot the connection status is Deactivated and we wanted to have a monitor setup and it has to intimate us if the status is not active. Is this posible by using API or do we have any other wasys to configure it.

Any application will have some endpoint where its status can be monitored so that it can be automated and can get the alerts like emails or pagers automatically without any manual intervention.

Can we please involve any developer here so that they can provide more details for which we are looking here.
