How to sync up "Link issue" in a ticket?

Originally asked by allenhsieh on 04 November 2020 (original question)

Hi Support,
We have a ticket that is embedded with other project’s ticket in Link issue.
I wonder how to make it sync up?

Does it require an extra script to make it happen?

Hi allenhsieh

You have an issue A1 which is linked to A2 and you would like also to sync A2?

If so - can you check
How to synchronize issue links on Jira Server for more details?

Hi Martens,
Yes, we did. But it did not work.
Did the code misplaced or is there another thing we need to do?
Receiver Project.

Parent Project.

Hi! Are all the issues involve in the links exalated? This approach only work when you have:

  1. Issue A-1 linked with B-1
  2. Exalate both Issues A-1 and B-1
  3. Now new exalated issues (let’s called them C-1 and D-1) are also linked between them.

Also take into account that this only would work between Jiras, which platforms are you using?

Best regards,

Juan

Hi Juan,

  1. Issue A-1 linked with B-1
A-1 and B-1 are issued in different projects.
  2. Exalate both Issues A-1 and B-1
  3. Now new exalated issues (let’s called them C-1 and D-1) are also linked between them.
C-1 and D-1 are issued in different projects.

Our sync up situation goes like this:
1. Parent site (Jira Service Desk/ Desk) <> Receiver site (Jira Software/ Cloud)
2. In the parent site, issue A-1 has one link issued (in another project)
3. I Exalate issue A-1 to receiver project
4. I expect issue A-1 to show the issue link as well (the issue link is being exalated as well)

That’s why we tried the script above and didn’t see the issue link show and ask for your professional opinion to solve it.
