We have two Jira Server instances, both in the same environment. We are using Exalate to synchronise tickets between both, and suspect attachments are quite a source of load on this. We have the option of moving where attachments are stored in Jira to a mapped drive on both instances, and can point these at the same location potentially.

Is there a way within Exalate to send/synchronise the attachments on an issue without sending the actual attachments? We don't want to use just links within comments, we want the actual attachments on the ticket still, just basically send the location for them so it uses the same file the other instance uses and doesn't have to send the whole file.

Ah - thanks for the extra details

Jira itself requires that the attachments are stored according a specific structure

If you want to optimize on the attachment sync, you will have to use links.
