Update old Sync Rules

Hello, I have Sync rules where Incoming sync for existing issues resides in two separate panels change processor and create processor. I'm in process of updating Jira to 8.5.4 and Exalate to 5.0.0-j8. Is it advisable to re-create the exiting connections using the new Rules with one Incoming panel.? Should we keep the same name or use new name for the connection? What will happen to existing integrated issues using the current connections with the separate panel for New and Changes processors if we switch to the new rules?

Hi! We recommend keeping the old connection as it is if there is not really a strong reason to migrate it the two scripts version of them.

        Hi Ziad,

        In addition to Juan's answer

Existing connections will not be affected by upgrading.
Whenever creating new connections - exalate will provide the new interface.

        Regarding your  questions

        • Is it advisable to re-create the exiting connections using the new Rules with one Incoming panel.?
          No - not necessary

        • Should we keep the same name or use new name for the connection?
Reusing the name is not possible as you can't create duplicates and altering the name of a connection is not possible

        • What will happen to existing integrated issues using the current connections with the separate panel for New and Changes processors if we switch to the new rules?
Transferring twins from one connection to another is not possible (except by doing db updates - but you don't want to venture there)

Bottomline - upgrading to the new version will not affect your existing connections.

Note however - we retracted version 5.0.0 due to a critical problem that surfaced once published.  Look for 5.0.1 or higher to deploy.
